Can a child be voluntarily returned under the Hague Convention?

Abducting parents are free to return the abducted child voluntarily, even after the start of Hague litigation. Voluntarily returning a child to his or her home country is also often cheaper than engaging in a drawn out and difficult legal battle and may result in more favorable negotiation and cooperation between the parents in the future.

How do you register a newborn foreign national baby in Japan?

Babies born in Japan are not automatically given citizenship the way babies in America are.  A baby born to two foreign nationals in Japan will need legal status to stay in Japan similar to any other foreign national.  Therefore, the foreign parents of a baby in Japan should take the necessary steps to secure the baby’s legal status in Japan.

What is an insurance clause?

Sometimes an agreement involves cargo or products that, if lost, would create more liability than either party is willing to accept.  In these situations, where the risk of loss is disproportionally larger than the contract price, the parties may agree to include an insurance clause to ensure that, if the cargo is lost or destroyed, neither party will have to pay for the damage.

Do employees get a bonus for creating an invention in Japan?

In certain industries it is common for employment contracts to contain a clause that grants the rights to all inventions by the employee to the employer in exchange for compensation.  In some cases, the employers will set the compensation beforehand, essentially providing a set bonus for any and all inventions by employees.
