Nicholas Jesson joined the Ohara Law Office in March of 2013. He serves as the firm’s foreign legal associate and specializes in matters relating to English language international contracts. As a California licensed attorney, Nicholas also advises on matters relating to United States law such as US immigration, probate and divorce.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, Nicholas then spent two years teaching English in Okinawa before returning to California to attend law school. In 2010, he graduated in the top 10% of his class from the University of San Francisco Law School and was admitted to the California bar in November of the same year. After graduation he worked as a contract attorney for several large US firms, advising on cases involving Japanese clients.
Nicholas has passed the highest level of the Japanese language proficiency test (N1) and frequently translates for clients who cannot speak Japanese. He also has appeared in family court on multiple occasions to act as a translator during mediation.
In his spare time, Nicholas runs marathons and enjoys traveling Japan.
